Das Fest der namensgebenden Myrrheträgerinnen ist beweglich und wird dieses Jahr am 4. Mai (04.05.2025) gefeiert. Myrrhetragende Frauen sind die Frauen, die dem Herrn mit seiner Mutter folgten, während seiner rettenden Passion bei ihr blieben und darauf achteten, den Körper des Herrn mit Myrrhe zu salben. Das heißt, als Josef und Nikodemus von Pilatus den Leichnam des Tyrannen erbaten und erhielten, nahmen sie ihn vom Kreuz, hüllten ihn in Leinentücher und legten ihn mit erlesenen Parfüms in ein geschnitztes Denkmal und bedeckten ihn mit einem großen Stein.

Excursion Programm

We depart at 07:00 in the morning from Chalkida to visit the female Holy Monastery of Theogennitoros which celebrates on Sunday, May 4. We will watch the litany and procession of the Icon, as a helicopter showers the Holy Icon with rose petals from above. This is due to an event that the pilot himself experienced when his daughter was sick with an incurable disease, but she was healed after prayers at this particular Monastery. Later we will head to Oropos to have free time for coffee and lunch and we will return early in the afternoon to Chalkida with rose icons.
