We depart at 07:30 in the morning from Chalkida with our established stop for coffee and arrive at our first destination at the Monastery of Agnountos, which was built in the 11th century and has a fortress character. Inside the temple we will see the impressive hagiographies and the iconostasis. We continue to Old Epidaurus with an optional visit to the ancient small theater and a walk in the fishing village for a walk and coffee. After completing our visit to Ancient Epidaurus, we depart for Nafplio, the first capital of Greece. We will have free time to visit Palamidi, one of the most beautiful and well-preserved castles in Greece to admire the panoramic view of Nafplio. We will visit the Church of Agios Andreas inside the bastion of the fortress and the Kolokotronis Prison,) . . We can wander through the picturesque alleys of the old town and admire the elegant neoclassical and well-preserved mansions. We can visit Syntagma Square, surrounded by monuments and historical buildings. The Archaeological Museum, the Municipal Gallery and the two Turkish mosques stand out (one housed the first Co-educational School while the other hosted the First Greek Parliament). Nearby is the church of Saint Spyridon, a well-known spot from the assassination of the first governor of Greece, Ioannis Kapodistrias, as well as the church of Saint George with important icons and frescoes, such as the copy of Leonardo Da Vinci's "The Last Supper". We can enjoy our lunch on the streets of the old town and enjoy our coffee with a view of the magnificent Bourtzi. In the afternoon we will head back to beautiful Chalkida with wonderful memories.
